Movie Nights In

The cheat’s guide to organising the best movie night ever

There’s nothing like cosying up on the sofa with a great movie for a night of pure relaxation. And as we’ve gotten a little older, we’ve started to find that a night in front of the telly has become a far more appealing Saturday night prospect than hanging out on sticky dancefloors.

So with that in mind, we’ve developed the cheat’s guide to organizing the best movie night EVER – think the magic of the cinema, except you can pause when you need to go to the toilet, and you can shush to your heart’s content without the fear of getting a nibbles thrown at your head.

  • DO invite a group around

Make a night of it by inviting some fellow movie buffs along. A wide selection of opinions will make the post-movie dissection so much more interesting.

  • DO choose a classic movie

A classic film is always a safe choice for a movie night. You don’t want to go out on a limb and choose something that turns out to be rubbish!

  • DO get the snacks in

Never mind what anyone tells you, the snacks are the single most important part of movie night. Not the movie, the snacks. Trust us, the second people come in there’ll be looking around and wondering what they’ll be munching on for the duration. Chips and dips, cheese on crackers are the basic musts – and if you’re feeling a bit hungrier, a steaming hot pizza will go down a treat.

  • DONT forget the wine (or posh fizzies)

A glass or two of vino will be much appreciated, and if people are driving or don’t drink, make sure you have some ‘grown-up’ fizzy drinks on standby so they don’t feel left out.

  • DO remember that cosiness is crucial

Cushions and cosy fleece blankets will add to the experience. Both can be bought for a few euro each, so if you’re planning on making your movie nights a regular thing, it’ll be well worth investing.

So there you have it, all the ingredients for the perfect movie night. Now get that popcorn on and enjoy!
